The Diner (Kensal Rise)

Almost everything about this place is great. Red neon exterior sign, red booths, well chosen old rock n roll background music, cool looking bar, retro american diner styling and genuinely friendly staff. The Diner has all those facets of the classic American diner that i love so much. I've been waiting to eat here for ages. Just walking in put a big smile on my face.
I couldn't help but have high expectations, but the medium rare Cheeseburger i ordered disappointingly came really well done. The meat was dry and wasn't particularly flavourful. Apart from the patty, all the elements of the burger were spot on.
The burger is assembled with a tasty soft bottom bun, the patty, well melted cheese, gherkins, tomato, lettuce, my own addition of their delicious burger sauce and the sesame seeded top bun. I'll put it down to an off night for the cook. To be fair it is only a £6 cheeseburger, but even so it could have been better.

The regular fries were good, but the fatter Diner fries covered in Cajun seasoning were better. You get loads, we couldn't finish them. Condiments are the classics - Heinz Ketchup, French's mustard and Cholula hot sauce. Bottled Beer selection is excellent too, and they offer some of my faves - Brooklyn lager, Coopers Pale Ale & Little Creatures Pale Ale.
I'll definitely come back and try again, as @yesiamben has eaten a few burgers here and loves them. Not only that but i find this place so endearing, i WANT to experience a great cheeseburger here. Until the next time...
